Mini, in conjunction with the UK’s AutoExpress (for whom we are grateful for the photos) have recently released images of its new ‘Speedster’ model. Take a look...
Does anything more really need to be said here? I mean... just look at it! It's exactly how you would imagine a Mini Speedster would look, but at the same time, it's even better. Last time, all we had was an artist's rendering of a rumor, and it looked a lot like an Audi TT. These photos put that problem to rest. This is a Mini all right, and it's destined to be the most fun-to-drive Mini - ever.
The idea is to challenge Mazda’s long-time favorite, the MX-5 and the soon-to-be-released Honda CRZ... along with any other two-seaters who would dare try to compete. Is there any reason left to buy a BMW Z4?
OK, so you lose a little room in the back (did you ever have that much any way?). Still, all the classic roadster style cues are here: the distinctive head rest curves, the oversized wheel arches, the low and wide stance, and, of course, an electric folding soft-top.
Pricing and availability have yet to be announced, but you have to begin wondering if a John Cooper Works version won't be far behind. But we'll shelve that for now. One thrill at a time...
