Two University of Maryland cops pulled over the ubiquitous Red Bull MINI Cooper and walked away without issuing a ticket... and four cases of Red Bull. Hmmm…
The alleged infraction was driving without a seatbelt, but the University Police just issued a warning to the driver. Then reporters from the University’s newspaper the Diamondback started asking questions, sparking an official investigation.
The result? The energy drinks did not appear to have been a bribe. Evidently, the driver asked the officers if they wanted some Red Bull as she had a bunch left over from her day’s work on campus.
Police spokesman Paul Dillon said “She said ‘hey, you guys want some Red Bulls to take back for the cops?’ And they did it. It was after the traffic stop was done. She said she was quitting for the night and had Red Bull to give away.”
The moral of this story is: if you’re going to drive around in an attention-getting MINI Cooper, for crying out loud wear your seatbelt!
