It only takes a couple of minutes. You log on to www.carfunfootprint.com and answer a few simple questions to discover your vehicle’s fun quotient and its environmental footprint.
Strategic Vision, an independent research firm, has surveyed thousands of car owners of 197 different makes and models to determine (let’s say quasi-scientifically) just how much fun your ride is. In their New Vehicle Experience Study they use a Delight Index, which captures the total impact the car has on the customer experience, and a Fun Rating, which is an owner ranking. They do this annually and claim it is an industry standard.
Next, they use three values to calculate your vehicle’s green score: an air pollution score and the combined MPG as taken from the EPA’s Green Vehicle Guide, and its curb weight, which helps determine the environmental impact of manufacturing and disposal.
You are given a score for the fun quotient and then you move on to learn what your vehicle’s environmental footprint is. Once you receive that score, the two are added together to determine your car’s overall fun footprint and you are ranked on a scale of 1 to 197.
