MINI is known for designing special edition vehicles to celebrate particular milestones, cities and events. They are also known for innovative April Fool’s day pranks. Their latest creation pays tribute to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, with a MINI John Cooper Works Paceman serving as the template for their creative, artistic design. Real or fake? you be the judge.
The exterior of the Paceman is coated with a custom green, blue and yellow paint job inspired by the Brazilian flag. Perhaps even more impressive (questionable?) is the vehicle’s interior, which features astro turf floor mats, and two rear seats that fold forward to reveal astro turf seat backs that set the stage for an actual soccer goal which attaches to the back of the driver and passenger seats. MINI claims that the car’s Park Distance Control will sense the presence of any “shot on goal” and attempt to close the tailgate in an effort to block the shot - hence the name “GoalCooper.”
Given the timing of MINI’s press release (right around April 1st) and the lunacy of kicking a ball (presumably with a great deal of force) into your new car’s interior - we’re chalking this up as another well-thought-out prank from the jokesters at MINI.
