Soaring gas prices have forced many to rethink their monthly fuel consumption. For driving enthusiasts, this often means benching their favorite sports car or SUV in favor of a more fuel efficient transporter. Fortunately for MINI, their iconic sport vehicles boast some of the best gas mileage in the class, and were recently acknowledged by Edmunds for having the best fuel economy among sports car.
Edmonds ranked a number of popular sports cars in terms of monthly operating cost with the MINI Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper Convertible and Cooper S JCW landing the top four spots on the list. The stock MINI Cooper offered the most affordable operating cost of the group, at $165/month. Conversely, the BMW M3 and Corvette ZR1 claimed the priciest fuel costs at $330/month.
What do these monthly costs mean? It’s not likely that a potential M3 or ZR1 driver will be dissuaded by higher gas prices. The numbers simply reinforce what many of us have known for some time – the MINI lineup provides a fantastic value to automotive enthusiasts looking for thrills without breaking the bank.
