Ever want to take your MINI Cooper vehicle on an overnight camping excursion, but were worried about where you would sleep our how you would haul your things? Well MINI has released images of three “Getaway” concept trailers that would allow MINI owners to take their beloved vehicles into the great outdoors.
Two of the models are based on the MINI Clubvan vehicle. The MINI Clubvan camper uses the rear of the Clubvan as a sleeping bay with space for one person and features an extended kitchenette attachment to allow customers to prepare small meals. The Clubvan camper also features a handheld shower that is built right into the vehicle and draws water from a fluid tank that is stored beneath the MINI’s load floor.
The MINI Cowley takes the Clubvan design and matches it with a Cowley trailer that provides sleeping space for two adults and provides additional camping equipment like a twin-burner gas stove in addition to the water tank similar to the one included in the Clubvan camper. The Cowley Clubvan also features a variety of electrical outlets as well as a solar panel that is used to charge the on-board battery.
The final “Getaway” MINI uses the MINI Countryman as its base model and has it outfited with a roof-mounted pop up tent that sleeps two adults. Placing the sleeping tent on the roof leaves plenty of space in the vehicles interior for additional passengers or storing bikes and supplies. The MINI Countryman All4 Camp also comes equipped with MINI’s All4 all-wheel-drive system which will provide added traction and off-road capabilities for MINI adventurers looking to travel to exciting remote locations.
None of the MINI vehicles are scheduled for production, but the creative minds at MINI have provided plenty of food-for-thought and innovative ways for MINI enthusiasts to outfit their vehicles for camping expeditions.
