A MINI Cooper once again finds itself at the center of a fundraising campaign. This time, the MINI has been hoisted to the top of the Central Terminal Building in Buffalo, New York.
Readers of this blog will surely remember that this is not the first time a MINI Cooper replica has been lifted into the air on the side of a building. A company in Houston, Texas mounted a model Cooper on the side of their building and was quickly issued a ticket for the vehicle’s removal. The MINI Cooper used in the Buffalo promotion has been lifted by a crane, and it appears that everyone in the city is aware of the promotion, so there should be no surprises (or citations) with this event.
The city will be selling $10 raffle tickets for a 2-year lease on a new MINI Cooper. Sales for the tickets will open on April 1st and will close with a drawing on Oktoberfest. Franklin G. Downing, CEO of Towne Automotive Group had the following comment:
“We are very pleased to help the Buffalo Central Terminal Restoration Corporation as they renovate our iconic Buffalo landmark. This MINI is a full-size replica of the brand new MINI Cooper that we are providing to the lucky winner. Towne MINI is also going to pay the winner's sales tax on the two year lease. Our hope is that it will raise many thousands to get the roof repaired so the Terminal can start their interior refurbishing."
