What will they think of next? MINI USA and MINI of Grand Rapids, Michigan are hoping to break the world record for the longest parade of British-made vehicles. The record, set in 2009, saw 1,450 Mini Coopers parading through the streets of London.
This time, the Minis will be making their way across Michigan's Mackinac bridge that spans between Mackinac City to St. Ignace. In a 2013 attempt, 846 vehicles showed. If anyone is wondering why anyone would go to so much trouble, one only has to ask. MINI of Grand Rapids' marketing manager, Ashley Abdenour, put it most succinctly. "Mini owners are very distinct people and very creative — their personality is reflected in their cars and they absolutely love their cars," she said.
For any readers wishing to attend, the event will take place on August 1st, and costs $25 per person. Registration includes the bridge toll, food, entry into an afterparty in St. Ignace, and admission to a Jimmy Buffet-themed music festival in downtown St. Ignace. Those interested can register online at www.MiniOnTheMack.com.
