Despite earlier reports to the contrary, BMW group has spoken out and said that it is still discussing plans for putting the Superleggera Roadster model into production.
Reports in a number of automotive news outlets indicated early last week that the model was approved and would enter production in 2018. But MINI's top exec, Peter Schwarzenbauer, says that a production model Superleggera has not been approved at this date.
The Superleggera (which means "super light" in Italian) is so far just a concept car that was unveiled last May at the Villa d’Este concourse d’elegance in Corno, Italy.
Schwarzenbauer indicates that he is a fan of the Superleggera and believes it would be "great addition to the MINI range."
