So... just how many people CAN you stuff in a MINI Cooper anyway...?
Remember when cramming people into a Volkswagen Beetle was all the rage? Well, not to be outdone, a Croydon, U.K. superstore is hosting a world record bid on Thursday to see just how many people you can cram in a MINI.
They're shooting for 25!
The current world record is, of course, 24, which was was set this July by a group of cheerleaders in New Zealand (keep your fantasies to yourself, please).
Now, there are rules to all of this. Participants must be over five feet tall, age 18 or older, and medically fit. You certainly wouldn't want to stuff yourself in with a virus-carrier, after all.
Camilla Vickerage, a spokeswoman for the organization, said: "We did a similar bid in Birmingham back in July but just fell short of the record, squeezing 21 people into a Mini. This time we really want to break the record so there will be two world record attempts, one at 7:30 pm and one at 8:30 pm. People can turn up at any time to take part, so we don't have to use the same people in each attempt."
She said medical support will be on standby, and the event has been thoroughly risk-assessed. Besides gaining their 15 minutes of fame, participants will also receive "goodie bags" for being such good sports.
Good luck to all (we think)!
