It was 50 years ago - August 26, 1959 to be exact - that MINI made the scene on the streets of London. Now, debuting in Germany at the Frankfurt Auto Show, MINI is bursting on the scene once again with not one but two new models, a coupe and a convertible.
They'll feature the same 1.6 liter turbocharged engine found in the sporty John Cooper Works version (211 HP) and, due to their lighter weight, they ought to move pretty fast. And no one should complain about the loss of storage space because, well, the MINI is no Mercury Marquis in that regard anyway. The coupe offers a wide-opening tailgate that, thanks to the lack of rear seats, opens to a whopping 8.8 cubic-foot cargo space, accessible to the passengers via a lockable opening in the bulkhead.
What onlookers may complain about, however, is the design, which is always subjective. You decide:
