“Practical” is probably not the first word that comes to mind when one thinks of MINI automobiles, but that could potentially change if the MINI Clubvan concept ever sees production.
The MINI Countryman offers more size and optional AWD, and the Clubman has a big boot, but neither is likely to be at the top of the list of consideration for commercial vehicle use. The Clubvan, on the other hand, will make a lot of sense for working, professionals that need to transport goods or services in high traffic areas. The size and maneuverability of the Clubvan make it preferable to traditional commercial transporters (panel van, pickup truck, box truck) in congested urban locales.
Critics fearing the Clubvan will compromise MINI's brand integrity need simply be reminded of the Morris Mini Van of the 60's. Customer requests for more size are as old as MINI itself!
Of course, the Clubvan is currently only a concept. It will be debuted this year at the Geneva Auto show.
