What better way to spend the beginning of your summer than taking an ice cream tour of the East Coast of the United States in your favorite MINI Cooper? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well that’s exactly what the Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club of North Carolina did, a trip that is sure to make all MINI fans extremely jealous!
This summer, the Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club set off on a 6-day, 1000-mile journey known affectionately among the group as “The Great Ice Cream Run”. The trip is the fourth of its kind, and joins ten club members as they travel along the Eastern seaboard visiting historical sites and, of course, ice cream shops. Some of the notable landmarks on the journey include the Civil War battlefields in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the United State’s oldest brewery (Yuengling, also in Pennsylvania) as well as a smattering of lighthouses along the Maine coast. The group also visited two dozen ice cream shops, so they had plenty of sugar to fuel their bodies for the trip!
The journey ended in Ellsworth, Maine, a picturesque town on the outskirts of Bar Harbor. It’s wonderful to see this type of camaraderie and goodwill present in the MINI community.
