MINI has released specifications and some press photos of the 2015 MINI John Cooper Works model. The new model will be the fastest production MINI offered to date, with a turbocharged 2.0 liter motor lurking under the bonnet.
The BMW M48 powerplant delivers 231 horsepower and roughly 240 foot pounds of torque- providing a 0-60 time of 6.1 seconds with the optional automatic 6-speed Steptronic sports transmission.
The JCW is also packed with upgraded features such as Brembo brakes and John Cooper Works Racing alloys. The body takes its cues from the latest, slightly larger MINI Cooper designs, with some notable differences, including enlarged air intake openings in the grille work up front, styled wheel arches and entry sills along the sides, and a centered twin-outlet exhaust system out back.
The interior received extra touches as well, with upgraded upholstery, display, and controls, and the “Driving Excitement" package offered as standard equipment. O course there is also a seemingly endless list of high tech features intended to increase “fun, safety, and comfort."
The official unveiling will be at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2015. Models are expected to hit the sales floor around mid-year, with no word yet from MINI on pricing.
