Classic and new Minis alike had the chance to flex their muscle at the 2015 Mini Thunder event at Thunder Hill Raceway in Willows, California.
The event is a non-competitive track day where owners of MINI Coopers have the opportunity to drive up to 100mph round the 5-mile, 36-foot wide track. Drivers have the benefit of riding along with one of as many as 60 coaches who come from the ranks of experienced race drivers to guide them safely around the course. Additionally, spectators can rent a helmet and cop a free ride with one of the instructors if they just want the thrill of the ride without having to drive their own vehicle.
This year’s turnout was around 170 vehicles. Thunder Hill raceway is located about 125 miles north of San Francisco in the Sacramento Valley.
For those interested in attending, the event is held annually. Information can be found on the Mini Thunder website.
