As planned, BMW Group is winding down production of its popular two seater MINI models. This is part of a planned step of the continued evolution of the marque into its latest generation of vehicles.
The MINI Coupe, the first two-seater MINI, was first launched at the 2011 24-hour Nürburgring race. The John Cooper Works "Edurance"Coupe made a fine showing in the race, demonstrating its performance pedigree. The MINI Roadster was also very successful as the marque's first open-top two seater.
Both of these "athletes" will retire simultaneously according to MINI and BMW, and finish their career together as they head into the "final straight."
The new lineup of MINI vehicles does offer the continued option of open-top motoring with the MINI Convertible and the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible.
