MINI enjoys taking the “road less traveled,” bucking industry norms and conventional thinking to create vehicles and brand experiences that are unlike anything available on the market today. Most recently, MINI has announced that the very first test drives in the new F56 MINI Cooper Hardtop will be offered to customers, rather than members of the media.
MINI’s new Final Test Test Drive Contest will select 10 lucky MINI fanatics to be flown to locations across the country for a unique first-drive experience billed as “the test drive experience of a lifetime.” To enter the competition, MINI owners (past or present) are instructed to don their best motoring outfit and explain in a video or picture which features of the new MINI Cooper they are most excited to test drive. MINI cameras and crew will be present for the test drive, recording the experience which will be rolled out as part of a marketing campaign for the new MINI Cooper.
Best yet, each of the ten finalists will have an opportunity to design their own MINI Hardtop with the assistance of a MINI product team and illustrator. The public will vote on which design they like best, and the winner will have their design put into production and offered for sale at MINI USA dealerships.
“The final test drive of the new MINI Hardtop before it hits the showroom is a unique experience for our owners,” noted Tom Salkowsky, Department Head, MINI USA Marketing. “Giving out owners the opportunity to not only motor in the new MINI Hardtop before it goes on sale, but also to design their own MINI with our product team, is our way of thanking them for helping us bring this vehicle to life.”
