We posted on the MINI Clubvan a few months back when MINI first floated plans to create a MINI panel car for (primarily) commercial use. It now appears that the Clubvan will see production, with models available in the U.S. Fall 2012.
The Clubvan features a 30.3 cubic-foot cargo area and a partition that separates the front two seats from the rear cargo area. The vehicle’s boot space is modest at best, but offers more space than any other vehicle in the current MINI lineup. Additionally, the MINI Clubvan features a payload of 816 pounds. The vehicle comes standard with cloth seats, but a handful of upgrades are available if desired, including leather seats, HID headlights, navigation system, adaptive headlights, automatic climate control and park distance control.
The Clubvan will only be available with MINI’s standard, naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter, 121 hp four-cylinder engine. A diesel version will be made available in Europe. Hopefully MINI will decide to include this diesel variant in U.S. models of the future; the added torque could certainly be useful for working professionals hauling a car full of supplies.
