As fans of the Countryman, we have anxiously awaited updates regarding its future sibling, the two-door crossover coupe – the MINI Paceman. So here’s our first one…
Car and Driver recently reported that MINI had made the decision to rename the Paceman. The vehicle will be called the Countryman Coupe, linking the new MINI model to the full-sized Countryman; now in name as well as design. While the two models are strikingly similar, the Countryman Coupe concept does showcase a few design differences outside of utilizing two fewer doors. Most notable of the changes is a sleeker, tapered backside that features horizontal taillights (the Countryman’s taillights are vertical).
An updated rendition of the Countryman Coupe concept is expected to be shown at the Paris Auto Show this September. Production of the Countryman Coupe is expected to being in early 2013, with the 7th MINI model arriving in dealer showrooms toward the middle of 2013.
