We have featured images and stories on our social media outlets about the upcoming production of the new MINI John Cooper Works GPII. Rumors are now circulating that production of these GP performance vehicles may be expanded to constitute a full-fledged sub-brand.
For anyone unfamiliar, the GP is a super sport is a race-inspired performance variant of the MINI Cooper that boasts suspension and horsepower exceeding anything in the MINI lineup. The GP currently exists as a once-in-a-generation special edition produced once every six years or so. GP models are some of the most coveted MINI models ever to be put into production, thanks in large part to its extremely limited production; fewer than 500 R53 GPs were made.
Fans of the GP may be concerned that increased production of the special edition may dilute brand. MINI claims that the GP will still be produced in limited quantities, but that the GP models may be developed for all of the different MINI vehicles (Countryman, Coupe, etc.).
