The F56 will soon usher in a new generation for MINI with an abundance of added features and improvements. Changes to the new Cooper also include a notable exclusion, namely, the absence of an in-dash CD player in their new model.
We’ve spoken before about MINI’s feel for their youthful target demo, and the recent omission of a CD player speaks to this awareness. The use of compact discs has declined with the rise of streaming music and smart phones, particularly among young people. Leaving out an in-dash CD player makes more economical use of an already small dashboard. MINI’s new technology system will accommodate 3rd party music applications like Pandora and Spotify, and a USB port will allow for easy connectivity between the vehicle’s entertainment system and a variety of smart phones.
For those that insist on playing their music through compact discs, the MINI will offer an optional dash-mounted CD player as an option.
