The celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the MINI Cooper S continue - this time at the formula 1 race track in Brands Hatch, England.
The track will host a large event for MINI Coopers this weekend (June 22nd & 23rd) which is expected to draw thousands of individuals all convening to celebrate their beloved MINI vehicles. At the center of the event’s festivities will be the 8th, 9th and 10th head of the British MINI Challenge club sport series. Those preferring the role of spectator will also be able to enjoy live music and a variety of MINI-focused shows and activities.
The Mini Cooper S first came to be in 1963 following a collaboration between Alec Issigonis and John Cooper. The plan was to create a sport-minded vehicle that took full advantage of the handling and athleticism that was inherent in the base Cooper. The rest, as they say, is history. Happy 50th.
