Earlier this year, as the Dakar Rally was kicking up dust across Argentina, Bolivia and Chile, a group of intrepid travelers were blazing a trail all their own across Argentina with a fleet of 15 MINI Countrymans.
Participants in MINI Adventure 2015 hailed from seven different countries, and drove 1800 kilometers from Cordoba to Jujuy over the course of seven days, with 50 percent of the travel taking place off-road.
Participants kept blogs of their travels and reported their progress through social media. The group were able to visit the base camp of the Dakar Rally and get up close and personal with the drivers and crews preparing the vehicles for the next days stages.
The Adventure team also stopped along the way in many small towns to take in the culture and interact with local populations. There was only one set of rules for the trip: "Be safe. Share the experience. Enjoy."
From the videos and blogs posted, it looks like the MINI Countrymans were certainly put to the test, with rough off-road travel, water crossings, and shredded tires.
