What does the storied MINI automotive brand have in common with a bicycle? Evidently more than you might think…
Staying true to its tradition of compact, practical fun, MINI has announced that it will be designing its own line of compact folding bicycles. MINI is promoting the bicycles using an eco-friendly platform, noting the bicycle’s (obvious) lack of emissions and urging would-be consumers to, "ride with an environmentally friendly understatement!”
According to MINI, the folding bike will allow for easier traveling in crowded cities. “The bike is …suitable for commuters and impresses in urban travels. When folded it can be taken free of charge on public transport.” Not surprisingly, the MINI Folding Bicycle fits comfortably in the hatch of most MINI models.
The MINI Folding Bicycle weighs a mere 24 pounds thanks to a lightweight aluminum frame. Additional features include 20-inch wheels, a gel seat and a bell, as well as a pair of mudguards and a Teflon-coated chain to prevent unwanted grease stains when transporting the bicycle.
Compact size and quality design are not the only traits the MINI Folding Bicycle shares with its 4-wheeled sibling - the MINI Folding Bicycle also boasts a healthy price tag – about $730. Want one of your own? The MINI Folding Bicycle will be available at dealerships in August.
