Remember that George Harrison (of Beatles fame) MINI that was going up for auction. Well, it sold...
That photo is of Olivia Harrison between the original Mini George designed and the new one, which was commissioned by Olivia to artist David Cost, who also designed the sleeve for George’s Traveling Wilburys and the Rolling Stones ‘Forty Licks’ covers. The idea was to re-create the design done by George on his original 1966 Mini Cooper.
So now the replica of George Harrison`s 1966 Mini Cooper has sold at auction in the U.K. for £23,000 ($37,440).
The 1966 car is still owned by the Harrison Estate. It was the same car George drove in the Magical Mystery Tour movie.
You may remember an older post that reported that Beatles manager Brian Epstein gave each Beatle a Mini Cooper in 1966 as a gift.
Bonhams at Goodwood Revival (seriously), Chicester, Sussex conducted the auction on Friday, September 18.
