Fun and fuel efficient are two of the MINI Cooper’s most defining characteristics (style of course, being the third). Therefore it is not surprising to learn that the MINI Cooper D was named this year’s most “Fun Green Car” by WHATCAR? Magazine.
The award comes as part of the publication's annual Green Awards, honoring automotive manufacturers for their accomplishments in the world of environmental technology. The MINI Cooper D gets the most from its 1.6-liter diesel engine, emitting only 99g/km of CO2 and reaching an impressive 74.3 mpg; all while maintaining the signature zip and handling that drivers have come to expect from MINI.
MINI’s substantial green achievements are also attributed in large part to MINI’s MINIMALISM technologies such as Auto Start Stop, Shift Point Display and Brake Energy Regeneration. These innovative features help MINI drivers minimize fuel consumption during each drive, and they are available in all models, not just the diesel variants.
This is the second consecutive year that the MINI Cooper D has been recognized as WHATCAR? Magazine’s “Fun Green Car” of the year.
