This year, the proprietors of the ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden have collaborated with designers and architects to create MINI Evolution, a unique and very cool (literally!) lodging experience combining MINI vehicles and design aesthetics with the beautifully austere surroundings of the arctic environment.
What does that mean, exactly? Well, you will be lodged in a room that hovers around 23 degrees Fahrenheit, sleeping a on a bed of reindeer fur and cocooned in expedition tested sleeping gear. You will have a MINI Countryman ALL4 to tool around in and even test out on ICEHOTEL’s private ice driving course. The MINI-based suite offers a private sauna, heated relaxation area, high ceilings, and ethereal blue lighting to add to the arctic ambiance.
While this may sound like a strange partnership, the ICEHOTEL has its roots in art and design, and the MINI Evolution collaboration is a study of the transformation and evolution of icons. And MINI certainly is an evolved and iconic brand if there ever was one.
The ICEHOTEL, located 200 kilometers North of the Arctic Circle, is built entirely of ice and is the first and largest such hotel in the world. It is open to guests and other visitors each winter from December to April.
