The new-for-2016 MINI Clubman will go on sale in the US this January. MINI has pushed the model upscale and is now marketing it as a luxury compact. The 6-door MINI Cooper Clubman that is all new for 2016 will sell for $24,100, and the Clubman S will start at $27,650, plus fees, taxes and title.
According to sources, The Clubman is now the flagship model of the MINI fleet. It is their largest model and will feature the highest standard of luxury features. In keeping with the MINI ethic of individuality, the various options will be available separately or in packages. Also available will be a variety of upholstery designs and colors.
MINI claims that although “Clubman is longer any wider than any other MINI model, the newest member of the MINI family endured extensive testing on the Nürburgring in Germany, the Circuit of Miramas in France and the Millbrook Proving Ground in the UK, as well as the legendary roads of Wales”
All of which ensures that the vehicle maintained the go-kart handling MINI is famous for.
New owners will have a choice between the three-and four-cylinder MINI TwinPower Turbo engines, and like all MINIs, will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. The more expensive Cooper S will offer an optional 8-speed automatic or 8-speed sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The BMW press release goes into greater detail on the various options and trims available and an earlier release provides a few photos that aren’t posted here.
