With the a new MINI Cooper Hatchback expected to hit dealerships shortly, it was only a matter of time before we could expect a brand new John Cooper Works model to follow suit. Motorauthority.com has recently released pictures of what is believed to be a John Cooper works production model prototype testing in Europe.
It’s difficult to make out any wholesale changes to the new John Cooper Works MINI, aside from the changes inherent to the new MINI Cooper - namely a longer wheel base. The rear end of the vehicle appears to be borrowed from the new Cooper hatchback, though the vehicle features some of the trademark JCW accoutrements like front air intakes, alloy wheels and beefier brakes.
No word yet on power for the new John Cooper Works, but we expect the model will use an enhanced version of the new 2.0 liter turbo used in MINI Cooper S. Motorauthority thinks that the final power output for the JCW could exceed 220 horsepower.
