We have been leaking selected spy shots of a variety of 2014 MINI Cooper prototypes over the past weeks and months. News around the blogosphere suggests that the highly-anticipated next generation Cooper will be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.
Autonews Europe reports that the third-iteration Cooper will make its debut at a dealer meeting in Helsinki, Finland. We have yet to hear of any hands-on experience with the vehicle, but there are a number of upgrades and changes that have been reported. Popular MINI enthusiast blog Motoringfile has used a VIN lookup to search the BMW Group’s database and provide a bit of insight into the R56. BMW is currently showing three different R56 models in their database with the following specifications:
Both the standard Cooper and the Cooper D will be powered by a three-cylinder engine, while the Cooper S will feature a four-cylinder variant, presumably turbocharged. Motoringfile is also exclusively reporting that the new Cooper will feature two new exterior color choices: Volcanic Orange and Iced Chocolate Metallic. It is believed that the new vehicle will also come equipped with Xenon and LED lighting options.
Stay tuned for more updates - we will publish as they become available!
