There is always a lot of excitement whenever a spy photo emerges on the Web. Sometimes they're legit... and sometimes they're not.

Sometimes it's unscrupulous photographers looking to make a name for themselves in the media. Sometimes it's a design student with dreams of making it in the auto industry. Sometimes it's just a prank to garner cheap publicity. You choose the category, but beware of this photo (and others) that claim to be what the next generation MINI will look like.

In a former article we postulated ourselves what it will entail, and for the most part we stand by those ideas, but no design elements of the new MINI, coming in 2011 or 2012, have yet been decided upon. It could very well look like this, but it could also very well look very different.

So beware; speculate all you like, just don't lay down any bets just yet.
