TV personality and star of the series "Mr. Bean," Rowan Atkinson, was recently sighted dressed in the Mr. Bean get-up and tooling around the grounds of Buckingham Palace in Mr. Bean’s famous lime-green yellow Mini Cooper.
Only Bean wasn’t really in the car so much as on the car. On the roof, to be precise, in a beige armchair in homage to the the Mr. bean episode, “January Sales Do-It-Yourself,” in which Mr. Bean, after purchasing so many items that he can’t get in the car, perches himself in the barca-lounger on the roof and drives using ropes and remote controls to steer the vehicle home.
The stunt was done to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first episode of the series. After finishing his laps around the palace, Atkinson stopped to celebrate by sharing a slice of cake with the press. The series Mr. Bean started in 1990, and ran for five years with a total of 15 episodes. During that time, Mr. bean drove two different Minis, an orange 1969 Morris Mini 1000 and a Citron 1977 Mini 1000, which was the one used in the January Sales episode, and this week's appearance.
