Department of Things You Didn’t Know There Were World Records For:
MINI Coopers were used this month in two Guinness World Record-setting driving stunts, the tightest parallel parking job and the most drifts around a car driving on two wheels. The attempts took place in Chongqing, China.
In the first record attempt, the driver, Han Yue piloted a 3-door MINI Copper S into a parking space only 8 centimeters longer than the vehicle. That’s just about 3.15 inches. For the city dwellers reading this, I don’t recommend attempting Yue’s method. But it is surely impressive to watch.
In the second record, a BMW M4 Coupe driven by Zhang Shengjun executed ten donuts around a Cooper S being driven on two wheels by Yue, all in the course of one minute.
Yue’s parking record surpasses that previously held by British driver, Alastair Moffatt, who parked a vehicle in a parking spot with only 3.4 inches to clear.
