BMW Group board member Peter Schwarzenbauer announced in Munich this week that the MINI range will be cut from the current eight models down to five “superhero” models.
All indications are that the coupe and roadster models will be cut. Presumably this will allow MINI to simplify and focus on their five largest selling models - the three-door and five-door Cooper, Cabriolet, Clubman wagon and the Countryman SUV.
Schwarzenbauer did not offer much additional information, though he did suggest that the changes are a work in progress that will allow MINI more flexibility to change along with shifting market forces.
Perhaps this reduction will make room in the MINI roster for more exciting variants and new models in the future, such as the rumored Supperleggera Roadster. (Pictured above)
