Clever Ways to Aquire A MINI Cooper
We’ve all heard stories about how hard it is to get your hands on a MINI Cooper; how long you have to wait until your MINI finds its way home.
Here are a few of the more interesting and clever ways prospective owners can
go about obtaining a MINI.
All He Wanted Was A Few New Socks
At the age of 21, Alex Tew has become an internet legend, and his simple and
ingenious idea of selling one million pixels on his website
has spawned dozens of imitators. Just five short months ago, Alex came up with
the idea to sell one million pixels (in 10 x 10 blocks) on his website as a
way of raising money for his education. In January 2006, he sold the last 10,000
pixels on – where else? – eBay for $38,100 and cemented his place
in internet history.
When he first launched this venture, Alex’s goals were simple: to raise
money to pay for university, to help his parents take some time off, and to
“buy some really expensive, long-lasting socks.” He’s pretty
much stuck to that plan, with one small detour – he bought himself a black
MINI. Can you blame him?
A MINI Taste Test
What do jelly beans and MINI Coopers have in common? If you have good taste,
you can win one of these cute little cars from Jelly Belly®. The candy company
has launched a game called Taste
the Mystery, and one of the prizes is a 2006 MINI Cooper hardtop coupe –
“a car that’s as much fun to drive as Jelly Belly® jelly beans
are to eat.”
An access code (found on Jelly Belly® packages) is required to play the
game, but as always no purchase is necessary. See the website for official rules
and regulations, and if you are the lucky winner, let us know!
How Low Can You Go?
An interesting twist on the game/auction concept comes from the folks at Limbo.
The online auction site offers items available to the lowest bidder. Working
in concert with cell phone carriers and merchants who want to increase visibility
of their products, the folks at Limbo offer an auction in which the lowest unique
bid wins. Recent winners have walked away with electronic merchandise for just
pennies.
Of course, there is a catch. Bids are submitted via text message, and it does
cost 99 cents for each bid. Still, for the lucky winner it’s a small price
to pay. Past auction items have included iPod shuffles, Sony Plasma TVs and
an xBox 360. Coming up? A MINI Cooper.
Ladies and Gentlemen: Start your cell phones!
