MINI has reported a dip in sales for the second straight month, indicating a probable issue with dealership inventory as the company prepares to replace the R56 models with the next generation F56 vehicles.
Global MINI sales were down 14% in February 2014 following up on a dismal January that saw sales down 43%. While sales dips this significant are typically cause for concern, the fact that MINI is planning a massive rollout of new vehicles certainly allays any panic that might otherwise set in. Contributing greatly to the sales dip were struggling sales of two vehicles that MINI has hinted will be discontinued - the MINI Coupe and MINI Roadster. Factor in slower sales during winter months, and we’re pretty confident that MINI will weather this storm without much trouble.
Of course, the pressure is now on for the F56 lineup to sell like gangbusters!
