MINI's display at this year's Geneva International Motor Show included a sneak peek at a new "exclusive edition" model that is set to go on sale in July 2015. The MINI Countryman Park Lane takes its name from one of London's most prestigious addresses.
According to BMW group, the Countryman Park Lane models will be available worldwide with up to four different engine variants (two diesels and two petrol versions) divided between eight different models.
Distinctive features of the Park Lane include a new "Earl Grey" and "Oak Red" two-tone, rallye-inspired paint scheme, special "Park Lane" badging, lots of chrome detailing and a set of 18-inch light alloy wheels in Turbo Fan Dark Grey. On the interior, the sills are also emblazoned with the "Park Lane" emblem, and there are a few other details exclusive to "Park Lane" models.
Located in the borough of Mayfair, Park Lane is historically one of the most upmarket streets in London, lined with five-star hotels and automobile showrooms, including MINI. There have been two previous Park Lane MINIs, one was a limited edition classic Mini with retro-mod styling, the other It is the third time that Park Lane has lent its name to an exclusive edition model of the brand. A version of the classic Mini with particularly high-end fittings bore the designation in 1987, while another MINI Park Lane came out in 2005, featuring a similar treatment. According to MINI, this is part of a tradition of naming design and edition models after London streets and districts.
No specific information was given as to availability in the USA. The press release does say "worldwide" so it sounds like it will be available, most likely only in the petrol-engined variants.
