In a city where 4 people die, on average, every day, Beijing may well be the most dangerous driving city in the world. Evidently, car ownership is a huge status symbol, and on the road, “he with the largest vehicle wins.” (That’s not attributable to Confucius.) So pedestrians have to leap out of the way of bicycles, which must yield to taxi bikes, which give way to motor scooters, which are out-muscled by motorcycles, which in turn should be well aware of MINI drivers.
The driver of the MINI in this photo, however, seems to have found a way around the bustling traffic.
