MINI ALL4 Racing has published images and specifications for its 2015 entry into the Dakar Series Races, set to take place early next year in South America.
The race starts January 4th and will finish on January 17th. Participating teams and their vehicles will travel 9000 kilometers through Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia.
The MINI ALL4 racing vehicle is a fully custom-built vehicle based on the four-door, all-wheel-drive ALL-4 Countryman. Only this version sports a 320-horsepower, 2.9 liter I-6 turbo diesel in place of the stock engine, as well as a heavily uprated suspension, and larger all-terrain tires.
The engine reportedly makes 590 foot-pounds of torque at 2100 rpm, enabling the vehicle to reach speeds over 100 miles per hour. Which should be enough to carry it over the toughest terrain the Dakar course has to offer. We are all hopeful that the combination of engineering excellence and the talents of defending champion driver, Nani Roma, will propel the MINI X-raid Team to their 4th consecutive Dakar win.
